To uncompress files:

1) On a Unix Machine:

  • Begin with the uncompress command: uncompress filename.Z
  • If the resulting file ends in ".tar" it needs to be extracted using the tar command: tar -xvf filename.tar

2) On a PC:

  • The .exe file is a self-extracting zip file. You simply need to run the file to uncompress it.
